MyTime for Grandparents
New support groups in Queensland for grandparents who are the primary carers of their grandchildren
Any grandparents who are the primary carers of their grandchildren aged up to 18 years are eligible to attend one of the eight groups setup throughout Queensland.
These support groups called "My Time for grandparents" provide an opportunity for a new group of participants who don't have many services developed just for them, to come together every few weeks to discuss issues that affect their lives, support one another, share ideas and learn more about the range of services in their areas.
A facilitator coordinates each group and if necessary a play helper attends if there are young grandchildren.

The Parenting Research Centre is the national coordinator of MyTime for grandparents on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs. Playgroup Queensland is proud to be able to deliver this service to eight regions.
Who Can Join?
Any grandparent who is the full-time carer formally or informally of a grandchild aged up to 18 years can attend whether they are at work or retired. They can attend the group with or without their grandchild. Groups cater for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families as well as families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
