What is Playgroup?

Playgroup is a place for you and your child to interact with other parents/caregivers and their children. Playgroup provides opportunities for play and learning. Your child will develop new skills and gain confidence by interacting with other children.

Adults like playgroup because they can:

  • Meet other local families and develop new friendships
  • Relax and talk in a friendly environment
  • Share experiences and ideas
  • Play with children and nurture a spirit of co-operation
  • Take up opportunities for personal development

Children like playgroup because they can:

  • Participate in new experiences
  • Develop and increase their social skills
  • Learn sharing, co-operation and simple routines
  • Interact with other adults and children in a safe environment
  • Enjoy learning more about their world

Our family moved to Australia from South Africa three months ago. For a month I sat at home and felt like my whole world was shattered as I knew no one here and felt very alone. Then I found out about playgroup! I have met some amazing people and my life here has become wonderful, thanks to playgroup!!

I have made amazing friends who have stuck by me through some very hard times and who have been there to experience my happy times too! My kids enjoy the experience making lifelong friends and having fun being kids!
