SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast unveiled the brand new Little Blue Penguins exhibit, which is now home to the only penguins on the Sunshine Coast. To mark the momentous occasion, the new penguin colony were treated to a celebratory feast, comprised of their favourite treats – pilchard, small whiting, whitebait and squid!
Officially open to the public from tomorrow, (Friday 13th December), the new Little Blue Penguins zone is set to a cool temperature with plants, rocky shores and sand to create a comfortable environment for the flippered friends to breed, moult and rest. As this species of penguin generally spends 80% of their life swimming, there is an abundance cool water where they can swim and dive to their heart’s content!
Guest are in for a treat, with the opportunity to be immersed in the wonderful world of the smallest penguin species – above and below the water! The iconic aquarium’s new zone will take guests on a journey from an above ground observation deck to an underwater vantage point for an all-encompassing look into the life of a little penguin.
