It’s on again. Playgroup Queensland will hold National Playgroup Week in March this year, but instead of celebrating the annual event in the city, we are taking it back to the regions – back to our grassroots.
Queen’s Park in Ipswich will host this year’s signature event, but the Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Rocky, Cairns and Mt Isa will also host an event.

This year’s theme is Messy Play and we encourage everyone to get involved and attend one of the six major events (and bring a spare set of clothes too!).
Some of the activities on offer include:
- Messy Music Play
- Shaving Cream Play
- Dinosaur Dig
- Goop and Slime Play
- Bubble Wrap Painting
- Object Painting
- Sidewalk Chalk Painting
- Water and Foam Play
- Mud Play
- Moon Sand
- And more!
Playgroups are one of the most popular and enduring grassroots movements for families with young children, and are an important part of the early childhood experience.
Each activity your child will experience during one of the National Playgroup Week’s Messy Play Days is designed to help them learn through play and to ready them for school. The activities encourage the development of fine and gross motor skills as well as hand-eye coordination, imagination, early maths competences and language.
National Playgroup Week is an opportunity for parents to learn more about playgroup through the fun and interactive activities that will be offered on the day. Save the date and come along to a Messy Play day where the best part is you don’t have to clean up!
